POCO MAS CHILEAN MERLOT - Central Valley, Chile 2005
This little chilean is one of my latest regulars, and is selling like
hot cakes. A nice, young and fruity red wine with a good deep colour
and texture. Merlot's classic flavours are abundant - Blackberry, plum
and a hint of spice and black pepper. Yum!

ARESTI CABERNET SAUVIGNON - Chile 2005
The Curico Valley is ideal for producing powerful red wines with rich
fruit and deep colour. This Cab Sauv has a deep cherry-red colour,
strong aromas with hints of sweet vanilla, chocolate, tobacco and mint
(If you look hard enough!). Another good fat red. |

TRAMONTANE SAUVIGNON BLANC - Maurel & Vedeau - Vins
de Pays d'Oc, France 2005
The Tramontane wind blows from the north-west in the bas Languedoc and
the Roussillon. It is the local, gentler version of the Mistral wind
across the Pyrenean mountains. It is dry, cold and often violent, carrying
air from polar regions. In summer it brings clear blue skies and relief
from the heat. In winter it just brings cold air. Consequently this Sauvignon
Blanc has a nice delicate
flavour compared with some new world varieties. |

SOAVE CLASSICO DOC "VIGNETO COLOMBARA" - ZENATO
- Verona, Italia 2005
Zenato are one of the most highly respected, family owned wineries the
Veneto, Italy. Their name is synonymous with the high quality Amarone
(dead posh Valipolicella), and the Soave is no less impressive. The basic
grape in Soave is Garganega which has
lemon & almond flavours. This has some Chardonnay for a little fruitiness. |

EL COTO BLANCO - Rioja, Spain - 2005
Macabeo is the principal white wine grape of the Spanish Rioja region,
and is known locally as Viura. It is simple & crisp, with a floral
quality. This is 100% Viura and is pale yet clear, with greenish hues.
Quite aromatic and with a refreshing touch of tartness, the aftertaste
is of flowers, fruit and fine herbs. |
