PERDBURG RESERVE SHIRAZ - 2004 - Paarl, South Afrcia
There are a few occasions when one can describe something as big and
fat, and this one of them. 100% Shiraz - Plums, Spice and Oak. Good
tannins give plenty of body and a few years of age has helped it to
soften. Well flavoured foods are best suited to this but "Any
excuse" is what I say!

VINO DE EYZAGUIRRE "Wine in the Sack" Cabernet
Sauvignon 2004
The origin of the "Wine in the Sack" goes back to too many
breakages from the vineyard to the Monastery! Burlap sack was used to
protect the bottles on the bumpy cart ride and it also helps portect
from too much sunlight. Quirky packaging - Lovely wine.

CHIANTI RISERVA SENSI DOCG - 2002
I always seem to find it difficult to get a good value Chianti. This
one appears to have come up trumps. Situated very close to the birthplace
of Leonardo da Vinci, this wine has been produced for around100 years
and "slips down rather nicely". |

HIGH ALTITUDE UNOAKED CHARDONNAY - Argentina 2005
In the shadow of Aconcagua, the Andes' highest peak, lies the Escorihuela
Gascón vineyard. With grapes grown at 300ft above
sea level, the conditions for winemaking are almost perfect. The wine ain't too
bad either! |

KINGSTON ESTATE - "Wildlife" Chardonnay / Colombard
2004
A pale to mid straw colour, this wine is loaded with peaches and apple.
Apricots, Melons and oak filter through on the palate. There's plenty
about this wine - fruit and body without over-powering. |

KINTU SAUVIGNON BLANC - Maule valley, CHILE 2005
The word Kintu means "Fine View" - Beautiful spot, but the
fact the wine is good has nowt to do with that! Pretty flat, easy to
farm land and low labour costs makes this wine really good value - tasty
too. |
