VINA RAVANAL CARMENERE, CHILE Carmenere is one of the most mis-understood grapes around. Although an old Bordeaux favourite, it is now virtually extinct in Europe. KLIPPENKOP CINSAUT / SHIRAZ, SOUTH AFRICA Cinsaut is a grape variety that is generally found in southern France, and produces wine that is light, fresh and a with a touch of spice. It is rarely found as a red wine sole varietal, but works well as Rose' on its own. The strength of body and flavour of the Shiraz blends with it here very well. |

WAKEFIELD ESTATE CHARDONNAY, SOUTH AUSTRALIA The Cabernet Sauvignon from this mob last month was tremendously well received. I only hope you feel the same way about this. These Aussie Chardonnay's can be a bit rich, but the quality should see off the sceptics. Enjoy! |

Certainly not because it's no good, I had lots of good reports about it. Produced just nextdoor to Marlborough, it has many of the fine qualities without the price-tag! "Farewell!" |

DRODSTY HOF STEEN (CHENIN BLANC), SOUTH AFRICA Chenin Blanc, or sometimes know as "Steen" in South Africa, started out life in the Loire, where it is responsible for many great sweet wines. In South Africa, it accounts for over 25% of all the vineyard areas. Dryish and fruity best describes. Very easy. |
