KWV ROODEBERGINC VAT The name KWV will be familiar to many of us, and the Roodeberg brand is generally regarded as the flagship. It is a blend of varietals, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, but the aim is consistency from year to year. Brought back to my attention recently by my accountant, it is highly recommended, although I charged him more than this!! |

CURRABRIDGE RUBY CABERNET SANGIOVESE Ruby Cabernet is a red wine grape created in 1936 in California by crossing Cabernet Sauvignon with Carignan to produce a medium bodied, good coloured cherry flavoured wine. Rarely on its own, it is here blended with Sangiovese (the Chianti Grape) to give an easy-going, medium bodied red. |

TERRE DEL SOLE MERLOT DELLE VENEZIE Venezie or Venetia is a name used for the area of Northeast Italy, corresponding approximately to the present-day Italian regions of Veneto & Friuli-Venezia Giulia. This area has long used Merlot to produce simple, light "quaffers" as the climate doesn't over-ripen the grape too much. I'm always surprised by Italian Merlot, and this seems to do the job too! |

CALITERRA CHARDONNAY \ SAUVIGNON BLANC This little baby is almost exactly a 50/50 split between the two grapes. The Chilean climate makes the Sauvignon Blanc more delicate than the popular New Zealand Sauvignons, and the Chardonnay is more fruity than a Chablis but less than the Aussie "gloop" Enough from both grapes to give a full-flavoured white with good variety. |
