| TENUTA MAGGIORE - Barbera IGT 'Sentito' - Lombardy, N.ITALY Barbera is one of those grapes largely kept secret from us by Italians until recently. Best suited to the milder climate of Northern Italy, it produces ripe fruity flavours with some smokiness. When exposed to too much sun & heat it becomes too strong in acid and alcohol. This is very easy drinking! |

GONNET FRÈRES Côtes du Rhône - FRANCE Côtes du Rhône is always a good bet when looking for a red a bit easier going than some New World offerings. Typically made from Grenache and Syrah grapes, this is a lovely example. Excellent with the Mother-in-law's Sweet & Sour this evening!! |

MCPHERSONS VERDELHO - Australia The Verdelho grape is most associated with Madiera, although successfully adopted by Australia. Acidic when too young or a bit oily when too old. The best versions are noted for intense flavours and hints of lime & honeysuckle. I always think it is very "Green" in colour and taste! |

CUSUMANO GRECANICO IGT Sicilia - ITALY 100% Grecanico - another of those grapes grown exclusively in Italy, and quite unique in taste too. Fresh, "perfumey" and only 12.5% this is best saved for over-looking Hope Mountain when the sun comes out - all welcome! |

I'm afraid to say that thanks to our beloved government, there is going to be an increase in the cost of a case of the Magical Aston Jones Wine Club. From May 2008 a Wine Club Case will cost a nice round £60, and I very much hope that this will stay as such for as long as possible. Thanks to All. |
